Artist Talk: Matthew Cummins

  • Evanston Art Center 1717 Central Street Evanston, IL, 60201 United States (map)

Matthew Cummins delivers his talk on Permission to be an Artist. After spending the last fifteen years consulting to global manufacturing, design and engineering companies, Matthew is finally giving himself "permission to be an artist" and pursue his art. Matthew delivered this talk at Hackstudio recently, where he is attending the Adult Program. What he leanred on this journey was a "surprise discovery that enabled him to feel a deep sense of connection." Come hear him tell the story, how it inspired him to wholeheartedly pursue his art, and why he now feels a part of something larger than himself. He will also be sharing some recent 3D printed work that may alter your understanding of what is possible.

Matthew Cummins is an Evanston-based artist who uses advanced design and engineering tools to explore reality, imagination, and scientific concepts in physical form. He has a degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University and has spent the last fifteen years consulting to global manufacturing, design and engineering companies.
