Artist Talk: Jevoid Simmons

  • Evanston Art Center 1717 Central Street Evanston, IL, 60201 United States (map)

Through his art, Jevoid Simmons tells of his family’s migration journey north in the early 1950s. He will speak on the significance of sharing family histories with the generations that follow.  He’ll also talk about the importance of engaging with those who come behind us as our story continues to unfold through their actions and experiences. He believes that sharing our stories across generations, race/ethnicity and other differences can provide opportunity to connect with our common humanity and to heal long festering emotional wounds.

This talk will take place in the second floor gallery of the Evanston Art Center, June 5, 3-4 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, but seats are limited so we are asking that people RSVP. Click here to RSVP
