Black Lives Matter Witness Quilt Presentation

June 29, 7-8 p.m., Evanston Art Center, the public is invited to hear from Melissa Blount about this impactful community project.

The Black Lives Matter Witness Quilt was created by Melissa Blount, MEET (Making Evanston Equitable Together) and community volunteers. MEET gathered the community to engage in social justice handwork activities and created the Black Lives Matter Witness Quilt, to honor and draw attention to the lives of black women and girls lost to violence in Chicago by incorporating their names into a community quilt.

Community Sewing Circles have been taking place over the last several months to create this beautiful quilt, of all sewing levels, ages and genders. The finished product will be shared with public at the Evanston Art Center thru June 30.

Evanston Art Center located at 1717 Central St., Evanston, 60201.

This event is free and open to the public.
