Join us June 8, 6-8p, for an opening party celebrating Baker Joe's Art Exhibit at Blick in Downtown Evanston, 1755 Maple Ave.

Joe Falcinelli AKA Baker Joe is a Chicago area Certified Baker and Visual Artist. Joe has been working in the baking industry for 9 years and has learned the craft from some of the best bakers in the country. However, for the last 5years, Joe has made a strong effort to reconnect with his passion for art. The night starts at 10:00pm when Joe fires up the oven at HEWN bakery In Evanston IL to bake off the award winning hand forged artisan breads. When the flour settles and the sun comes up, Joe hits the studio to sketch, cut stencils, and paint whatever “canvas” he can get his hands on. Using recycled materials found or donated, Joe has created Colorful and sometimes practical pieces of art with what some might think is junk. His vinyl wall clocks are made from donated and found records that are then painted by hand and fitted with a clock movement. He has also works with recycled windows, wood panels, and other found materials, literally anything that the paint will stick to. His style of using negative space and abstract shapes to create his images has a mixture of pop art, abstract, and street art. Using layers of bold colors and painting techniques he creates an abstract base for his piece. He then sketches and hand-cuts the images in to one time use stencils. These stencils are than placed over the top of the background and applied. Baker Joe’s work is currently being displayed all over the country from Doughnut shops in New Jersey to man caves in Los Angeles. As well as, locally At "The Pop-up Gallery" 1627 Sherman Ave Evanston, IL. You can visit his online store by following the link below.
